CSC MINUTES FROM MEETING ON AUGUST 7, 2005

The meeting was called to order at 6.17 p.m. by our President, Steve Wilkerson.  All officers were present with the exception of Betty Mathisen.
June minutes were accepted as written.
Treasurer's Report:  Expenditures for month $416.76
Income (mostly Geechee Blast) $1235.87 Balance $6704.71.  $204.51 is earmarked for CHD, a check will be delivered the following week.
Geechee Blast: Co-Chairpersons, Gale, Elmyra and Roxie reported that  plans are going well.  Members were encouraged to purchase their tickets soon and also to sign up to help on a committee.   Gale also reminded everyone about the hotels and rates and encouraged members to take advantage of staying in Mt. Pleasant.  She asked for help in getting door prizes and announced that Betty Hall and Bobby Weaver are co-chairing the Ways & Means Committee.  It has not been decided if we will receive the ATAX money from Mt. Pleasant this year.
Membership Committee: BJ stated that we now have 207 members.  There were 3 guest and one new member present.  BJ reminded us about signing up for the American Idol show at our re-up party in Nov. You can sign up for $5 and lip synch a song at the re-up party.  Contestants need to be over 17 years old. 
Food Committee: Steve announced that Jeff has planned Sub- Sandwiches for next month.  Members are asked to bring salad or dessert.
Sunshine Committee: Lynn was not present, but Steve asked if anyone knew of any members who were sick or had sickness or deaths in their families.  Ann Moore mentioned that members may want to send Bobby Free, 2 Fairway Court, Walterboro, SC 29488 a card to let him know we are thinking of him due to his illness.   Also we are asked to remember Martha McNiel as she goes through some health test.
Website: Steve thanked Gordon and Tom for their work with the website.
Dance Committee: Elmyra stated that CSC has a booking for Feb 2006.  There is nothing else on the calendar as of right now.
Newsletter: Some changes have been made to the newsletter which will give CSC a cost savings of $600 a year.  Joe is still looking at a few things that he feels will help the newsletter and the club with cost.  Joe is also talking to one of our members who may take over as the newsletter editor.
Old Business: Steve told us about the trip he, Tom T. and Joe took to Camp Happy Days.  They all enjoyed their visit and came back excited about how the kids had benefited from our donations.  We sent seven children and paid for snacks for two cabins for the week.    They came away from their visit knowing that CSC had made a difference in those children's lives. 
Steve mentioned that Nancy Strothers wanted him to remind us about the shag-a-thon at the Citadel Mall on Aug. 13th, noon til 5.  Help is needed to put the dance floor down at 8 o'clock on Friday night, please enter the service entrance by Parisian's.   The shag-a-thon kick off party will be Friday night, Aug 12th at Pivot's.
Steve asked Kae Childs to say a few words about the Aquarium shag nights.  She stated that they have one more planned for the summer on Aug 25th, cost $5, time 6 to 9, lesson at 7.
Steve reminded us that Karen Seay and Joyce Anderson will be hosting our next social on Aug. 26 at Pivot's. The July social at Roxie's was a great time for all.  Thanks Roxie!!!
Sgt. of Arms report: Food tickets:  $51;  Split the Kitty $129, Joe Tucker won $64.50 and CHD received $64.50.  Meeting adjourned at 6:53 p.m.
