The CSC met at the Island clubhouse on Sunday, September 11, 2005. The meeting was called to order at 6:15 PM. All Officers were present except Linda Barnett and Dot Smith. The Minutes of the August meeting were approved as published in the Newsletter. Motion made to approve by Chris Tant, seconded by Bobbie Sullivan. Tom Trueblood gave the Treasurer's Report. The expenses were $669.80 and Income was $3,069.50, for a total of $9,104.41 balance. Thus far in 2005, we have made $2,120 in donations to Camp Happy Days. Committee Reports: Gale Robertson talked about the upcoming Geechee Blast party. We are just over a month away. We have 101 registered guests and 6 more in the mail. The committee tickets are still available for a discount price of $35.00 if the member is signed up for 2 hours on a committee. We will need everyone's help, so please volunteer wherever help is needed even though you may have already worked your two hours. Everyone will be needed to help clean up Friday night at close and the big clean up at Saturday night. With so many people pitching in last year, the clean up was fun and quickly finished. Roxy could not be here tonight, but would like to hear from you if you want to help on her committee. Her phone #'s are 871-5377 and 509-6308. Committee chairs will be contacting those who have signed up to give you the schedule. Bobbie Sullivan will be in charge of decorating this year, so let her know if you are available to help decorate on Friday, October 21. Steve asked Tom Lufkin to introduce our guests tonight. We had 38 members present for the meeting and 8 guests. More people came after the meeting for dancing. The guests were introduced and welcomed: Betsy Cook, Sandra Bragg, D.J. Gambrell, Rosemary Funderburk, McLean Funderburk, Bob Reid, Louise Doyle and Larry Ernest. Lynn Lee-Sunshine. Lynn said that Barbara Grant was in the hospital and Marlene Smothers and Dot Smith had some surgery; so she sent everyone get well cards. Lynn sent Barbara and Jerry Wade a sympathy card. Jerry's sister-in-law passed away. Francis is having some tests soon. Newsletter - Steve complimented Joe on the new format. This saved the club $600 a year in newsletter costs. The Mystery Shagger was Roxy. Any ideas for the newsletter due to Joe by 9-20. Joe would like to have more Mystery Shagger pictures with short bio note for future newsletters. Web Site- Steve said that the web page is looking great. Tom L. and Gordon are doing a super job. It looks very professional. New Business - Steve said that we are still having our Christmas Party on December 10, same place and same time. There is a big change, though, in that CSC and the Islanders will be having a joint Christmas Party. We were approached about having a joint party, with both clubs sharing any profit or loss. This party traditionally has a loss. We had a loss of about $1074 last year. We are increasing the ticket price to $25.00 for members and $35.00 for guests. This includes super food and an open bar. The event is semi-formal. The Board voted unanimously to have a joint party after discussing with Ann Moore, who is in charge of the Christmas Party. A lot of CSC members are also Islander Shag Club members so we anticipate about 20-50 people who may attend who would not already be CSC members. Ann believes that we can move the # of tickets to be sold from 250 to 300. This is a win-win for both clubs. Ann will decide when the tickets go on sale. They will be sold on a first come, first serve basis.
