Dear Friend,
Thank you again for making 2004 a banner year for helping others who are in need. Because of your generosity nearly 9,000 people in the (Charleston) Tri-County area were served through The Salvation Army programs that provided the following:
2,299 food certificates 21,147 toys distributed to needy children 4,932 gifts distributed at nursing homes, hospitals and prisons 351 volunteers rang bells, dressed dolls and bears, stuffed stockings, and
helped during the distribution at the "Toy Shop"
2059 hours of volunteer service was provided 175 "Feed a Family" responders resulted in $5,685.77 in donations, Our
Christmas Appeal brought in $165,341.73 and $94,736.71 was brought in through the Kettles at Christmas The battle against poverty and hunger is still waging and we hope you will rise to this call for help. You once again have an opportunity to contribute to this wonderful effort to serve the less fortunate. Specifically, we need hundreds of volunteers for the following positions and times:
Eight volunteers each day to take applications on
October 24-November 4, 2005 9:00-4:30
20 volunteers each day to pack boxes for Thanksgiving on
November 22, 2005 9:00 until finished
20 volunteers each day will distribute boxes on
November 23,2005 8:30-4:00
20 volunteers each date to sort, set up, pack and distribute boxes for Christmas December 19, 20, 22, 2005 from 8:30-5:00 Five volunteers to monitor traffic on the above dates Hundreds of volunteers to ring bells from November 21-December 24
(excluding Sunday)
