A big day for Tom Trueblood and yours truly was April 14th, when we proudly delivered a check from your Charleston Shag Club to Camp Happy Days and Special Times in the whopping amount of $1600.00. This was barely six weeks after your vote to adopt Camp Happy Days as our charity of choice. The large amount was made possible by several very generous contributions from members, by donations put in the "big red bucket" and money from the club's split the kitty. Your money will send 6 kids with cancer to camp for a week and provide snacks for 5 dorms for the whole week. Well done CSC.
In other activities, we had a good Geechee Blast volunteers appreciation party hosted by Gale and Elmyra. If you were a volunteer you got a well deserved "thank you" and we all had a good time with Walter and Betty spinning the best of tunes.
Tom Lufkin and I attended a district meeting of ACSC member Shag clubs from this area, mainly just to share ideas and get acquainted. The other clubs told about their problems...trying to get good members, keeping a meeting site that did not involve moving from one bar to another, getting good DJ's for functions and being broke. Tom and I realized over and over how fortunate we are to have dedicated top notch DJ's, a wonderful meeting place with the ability to bring our own coolers and food as we see fit, to have had several
