Oh What A Night!! I think that is a song but it was so true Friday night at Pivots when Betty Hall and Bobby Weaver hosted a superb Caribbean party. Nice decorations and good food, Betty Brown spinning the best stuff and a knockout crowd. We had company from Columbia Shag Club and friends from the Islanders and quite a few old friends we have not seen in too, too long. A high point, among others was a spotlight dance featuring our Jerry and Barbara Wade, Nancy Strother and Charlie Leonard representing ISC and Pat and Mike Thompson dancing for the Columbia Shag Club. The dance was a chance to toss a few dollars at really good dancers to benefit Camp Happy Days. The crowd liked it and Camp Happy Days was the winner.
Speaking of which, we did deliver our second check to Happy Days and Special Times in time to send one more child with cancer to camp during the first week in July. CSC and several generous members have made it possible for 7 children to be campers for a week and we have provided snacks for 5 dorms for the week. Take a moment to be justifiably proud of ourselves.
We will not have a meeting in July due to the 4th, but we will join ISC for the annual Bird Key boat trip on July the 2nd, Saturday. This is a day of fun in the sun and lots of food. Bring a covered dish, your cooler, maybe a chair and come to the Folly Beach Boat Ramp for a ride if you don't have a boat. The party, hosted by Alfie Herring, will start at 12, so try to be at the boat landing by 11 AM.
I guess this is just a practice run for the party at Roxy
