VOLUNTEERS
Have you, as a member of the Charleston Shag Club, ever volunteered your time?? If not, why not? When you joined the CSC, one of the questions on the application, was on which committee would you prefer to serve. The CSC is an all volunteer club and depends on occasional help from all it's members. It appears that a small core of the membership (probably about 15-20%) volunteer to assume about 90% of the duties. Truth is, some of the members don't have a clue! Why is it so difficult for so many of you to step up to the plate? It's been said before; if you're not helping the club, you're hurting it. The club isn't going to ask you to take on anything you can't handle. Those of you who have never served on a committee have missed an important and fun part of being a member. The club isn't asking that you obligate yourself for an entire year….only that you give a little of your time. Want a place to start? Call Steve and volunteer to plan and host a social. Don't know how? Ask someone that's done it. Steve will also need someone to be responsible for sending e-mails, and someone to manage the phone tree. Easy stuff when shared and approached with a positive attitude. And it can be fun. Come on! Don't just waltz in and out of every club function without helping out occasionally! We all pay dues, and from time to time, we all should give a little of ourselves to CSC. It's the least we can do to help fulfill what should be viewed as an obligation when we become members. Don't be one of those people who always seem to melt into the woodwork and disappear when things need to get done. It's your club, too!
