SHAGGING FOR HOSPICE
All are invited to the ISC general meeting on July 17th. We will have a guest speaker- Kit Cosgrove from Hospice of Charleston. This year is our second annual Shag-a-thon. The idea was adopted from the Northern Virginia Shag club, who over seven years have raised over $100,000 for Hospice of Northern Virginia. This year alone, their Shag Club raised over $14,000. Last year our first Shag-a-thon raised over $6000.00 for Hospice of Charleston. Hospice of Charleston is building a Hospice Hospital here in Charleston. This money raised will be used to name a room at the new hospital. This room will be a showcase for our clubs and for our dance- our STATE DANCE. We are ¼ the way of obtaining our goal. So let's make Shag-a-thon 2005 a success. Come out to Citadel Mall on August 13th from 12-5 PM and support each club, each member, and each dancer- this is not an endurance event, but a FUN day. Our fun and our generosity will some day brighten the life of an ill person. And we will have something to show that will live forever- our Room at Charleston's Hospice Hospital and the memories of our accomplishments to obtain this room. Please visit the website Hospice of Charleston.org and see that this is truly a great charity- receiving in 2000 the Angel Award from the Secretary of State at one of the top ten charities of South Carolina. Hospice not only provides end of life care for the terminally ill, but it also provides pain and symptom management, caregiver crisis, patient wishes and respite care. They are a dually licensed hospice and home health agency. Bereavement services are also offered as well as spiritual and emotional support. We hope that every club member, every single person that walks into Pivots or the Islanders' Shag Clubhouse, or anyone that loves to dance will come out and bring your donations. Don't let another club outdo the great clubs and dancers we have in this area. See ya' at the mall!!
