The Charleston Shag Club
Geechee Times

"Preserving The Shag For Future Generations"    April 2005

It is with heartfelt thanks that I sincerely thank the Charleston Shag Club for all the love, support, visits, cards, calls and prayers during the time of my mother's hospitalization and untimely death. It was quite awesome to have that support at such a time as this. I really appreciate all of the members who made a visit, sent a card, brought a dish or took the time to call. The plant sent by the Club was beautiful and one that I can keep for a long time in remembrance of her and the thoughtfulness of the Club. You are a wonderful club and I appreciate each of you. Thank you again from the bottom of my heart. B J Kelly

Happy Days are (is) here! After an inspiring discussion lead by Brooke Hallman your club voted at the last meeting to adopt "Happy Days and Special Times" as our charity of choice. The vote was unanimous. We will continue to have Split
the Kitty as usual but with the 1/2 the club usually gets, going to Camp Happy Days. We will also have a bucket available for any spare change anyone will care to donate. This is a good cause we will be happy to be associated with. The Volunteers of the Month spotlight shines on Joe, Dot, Betty, Bobby, Jeff and Jim, for spending Saturday Feb. 26th working to fix up the Clubhouse (see page 2). Repairs were made and the paint in the meeting room is great. Take a look! Thanks to Tom Lufkin and sidekicks Dot Smith, Dot Tucker and Linda Barnette for a great St. Patrick's Day party at Pivots, green beer and a packed house. You guys are great! Remember the pig roast coming up on April 2nd. This is given by Gale and Elmyra to thank all those who worked to make Geechee Blast run so smoothly. Please come and enjoy. It is all free for you who worked, but others certainly may attend at cost of $5 each. In other good news the web site is up and running. In a club of about 200 members communication is so essential. Thanks to a great newsletter, the e-mail, the phone tree and the web site we hope everyone is privy to all that we have going on. Enjoy your  club.
